Default Terrova and Vexilar ???

Sorry, don't see a better place for this question....if you have a better spot Mike, move it and send me a note so I know where to look.

Does anyone have a Minn KotaTerrova with the US2 hooked up to a Vexilar? I see it listed as one of the possible compatible units, but have heard some "stories" about other compatible units. If you have, please let me know how it works for you. I just got the Terrova, am excited (mounting it this week), but need to decide if I am buying another fishfinder just for the front. With my old Powerdrive, I mounted a Vexilar puck to the bottom. I would like to eliminate all those wires..

If it doesn't work well, look for an FL-8 in a classified ad near you in the future (along with a couple of 24 V trolling motors)

Thanks

FishingJoe

FJ ,
I would send a PM to Mister ED here (friend of mine) that lives in Fremont near me - he recently bought a Power Drive V2 with AP & US2 and he wired his Vexilar to it....
I know with an external XDCR on his old PD(V1) the motor tore up the display pretty bad - I don't know if that problem went away with his new setup or not....

The PD's & Terrova's both use the same PWM (Maximizer) technology so if he's had success , I'd say you're golden - otherwise you can pick up an Eagle or Humminbird fairly cheap , but those US2 adapters run about $20 boneZ each.

G'Luck!

Robert

Trolling motor? Vex? Boat????? That must be what that red thing, on the trailer in the garage is ... I almost forgot.

FishingJoe - As SFW pointed out I do have the exact setup, with the PD V2.

With the old PD (93 vintage) & external Xducer, that FL8 was lit up like the strip in Vegas.

My biggest issue was finding the adapter cable for the VEX. Not sure about now, but last year Vex and MinnKota were in some kind of pissing match. It was VERY hard to find someone with the cable in stock.

My boat did not hardly see the water last year (installed the set up last spring). However, compared to the old set up, I was pleased with what I was seeing on the Vex. I do not recall if there was zero interference (but it was at least minimal). It was definately no problem seeing a clearly defined bottom and that is all I want from the front unit.

I would say it is worth a try, if you can find the adapter.

Hope that helps.

LOL ... I was trying to remember and could not. But now that you mentions it, I did call around and found it.
