tattle flags
I bought a pair of Walleye boards a couple of years ago but have not used them. I want to give them a try this year for 'eyes. Are those flags needed? Dicks-$21.99 Cabelas-$29.99 EACH!!!! Anyone hav a scret source for le$$ I know those 'eyes can hit soft. Also, if I light the boards with glow stix for nightime use, will the stix illuminate enough to see any action on the flags? Thanks.

I don'y know about the glow sticks
But for the flags
I have them on all 8 boards of mine
Here's the cheapest place that I've found for them
http://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com/f...grade-kit.html
There 16 bucks and you get the upgraded OR-16 (red) snaps
I myself run just one OR-16 (red) snap in the front and a OR-14 (black)
snap in the rear
I use the other OR-16 (red) snap that comes in the kit for snap weights and the OR-14 (black) snap that you take off works great during the may flie hatch (or floating weeds)
I run it 10' up form the bait
THis keeps the may flie hulls for running the line and collecting on the front of the lure.
If you search the internet
THere are plans out there to make your own tattle tale flags.
Good luck

do some searching on the net. You should be able to find the plans to make them yourself and get everything you need from your local hardware store for about $5.00 or less.

The flag kit's are a rip off, I bought 1 and made my own for my other 3 board's. I had less than $5.00 into the 3 set's. If you do a search on here I am sure you will find a lot of information about making your own.

Simple to make.....
Century C-73 spring from hardware store or buy the springs from Franks 2 for $5.99 http://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com/t...ing-2pk-1.html
if your boards are newer....the screw for the flag is long enough. if not, replace with 6-32 x 3/4 stainless
Nylon washer ~1/2 dia with 6/32 clearance hole
Small eye hooks from hardware store (for wire guide)
OR 16 clips 2 per board - 10 for $35 at Franks http://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com/s...10-pack-1.html or 2 for $10 at Gander
.028" dia R/C control wire from hobby store or use nylon coated stainless cable and crimps (Gander) or downrigger cable with crimps.
By the time your'e all done, if your'e only fitting 2 boards, it's probably cheaper to buy the kit.
$15.99 for a kit - http://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com/t...grade-kit.html

you dont even need another site to make your own. Unless you havent got one to base off of. bought one made the other 8. Found that the little flags that people put in the ground to mark wires under ground work great. Got ten of them at homedepot for 90 cents. just my two cents.

flags.
I bought the Walleye boards, the orange ones the Church's. Looked at a kit at Dicks and at Shoreline this past week. One fellow there said I didnt need them, just have the drag set right. These I want for walleye, not trout. I have those huge dual skis I made for Lk Michigan. I will put lights on the walleye boards, as I plan to fish more at night. Thanks for all the input.

You are not saving much trying to duplicate the flag kits. You get two releases in the kit. The releases alone are about $8. Don't try making them with regular tie wire, because they wont work well at all. I have seen some reasonably good copies, and some that were total crap. Everyone has different areas of expertise.

I use the snapper releases on the the front of mine and use the standard black clip on the back, I just loop the line in the back clip. So, you don't need to buy the red clip's.
