Premium 44 ammo is almost non-existent. I had decided on 250 grain Winchester Supreme Partition Gold. Can't find any, so I fell back on the 270 grain Speer Gold Dot soft point. Can't find any.

If you haven't found yours yet, you had better find it quick or you'll be  at your computer too.

I ended up "settling on Grizzly 250 Grain Bonded Core JFP. Best of luck to everyone on this upcoming (my first) bear season. Thanks, Brian

I havent trapped in a few years. When i did i was mostly after yotes and my 1 badger a year. Anyhow, i'm thinkin of getting back into it. Wanna start out this year trappin coon. It has a chance to pay for itself or have minimal loss. Anyhow, up here the creeks are all covered by the long time trappers.... Don't wanna move in on them. Anyhow the past few years i've been seein coons while bow hunting in oak stands. Anyhow i'm baiting bear close to my bow hunting spot and had 13 coons on the trail cam at one time. I also know of a corn farm that is bordered by state land. I hunt turkeys in the spring on the farm. Don't wanna be in there near deer season so i'll trap the oaks surrounding the farm. So any advise for land trapping coon. I have a few dozen duke 1.5's. Thinkin just dirthole sets..... One stake should be enough...... Any advise would be appeciated. Also i know season opens Oct 15. When is the best time to pick up coons. I always trapped yotes in Dec and January so i didn't worry about prime.

After years of asking permission and leasing, I finally signed on my own 10 acres of property today!! I got my oldest out of daycare so I freed up some money that I could use for the payments. It's not a lot, but it's enough for me and my son when he gets old enough.

It took the last month to finalize everything, and I am leaving for salmon season Friday morning, so I dont have time to go out and put tree stands up till the end of the month, but it will be well worth the wait!
It's just a nice feeling to know I have something I can call my OWN!!

Hey guys. On my above mentioned 2000 Cherokee Sport, the latch on the back hatch will no longer open. It's been acting up for quite some time, but now acts as if it's stuck in the locked position.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, do you have any advice? I've thought about just going to the boneyard and getting a used latch, but at this point I can't even get the darn thing open to replace it, and frankly would probably have a hard time doing so if I did get it open. If I was a little richer I'd just drop it off at the body shop and say "Fix it!"

Thanks in advance......Sid

Ok everybody, I have done a decent ammount of looking around the forum and have not come up with much that tells me what I want to know. I am really in the need for a pair of waterproof pants. In the fall and early winter here in central Illinois, it gets wet. I will be biking a lot and need something waterproof. Eventually, my rides will be 20 mins plus so I will need something that will keep me pretty dry. I will not have the ability to shower normally considering i m
going to classes and such here at ISU. I was looking at gortex, it sounds good, maybe a little hot, and rather expensive, but waterproof. Pertex also sounds nice accept I have a feeling I would end up a tad damp by the time I got to class. Really, I'm looking for most breathable and most waterproof. Any and all suggestions area welcome! thanks a lot!!
By the way, what about this waterproof pant?
I find it in google search.

According to September 2010 Bear Facts News Letter...the fawn depredation study being conducted in Menominee County by the University of Mississippi involved 160 locations investigated. The locations were pinpointed by gps collars fitted on black bears (3 sow bears and 7 males). The locations were investigated for signs of fawn depredation by the bears. None were found. They did find evidence of bears feeding on natural foods and scavenging on livestock which had been dumped by a farmer. Also, a total of 44 newborn fawns were fitted with radio collars this year to learn if any were preyed on by predators. None of the the 44 collared fawns had been preyed on by bears.

Hope some of the folks on this site who were convinced black bears are a major predator of fawns will take this information into consideration.

I have read a little on which types of diver spreads work well on small bodies of water. I have a dozen Bluebill set on a gang rig and almost done painting up a dozen bufflehead (bought mallard decoys on sale and painted them up like buffleheads, I will post some pictures). Are buffleheads good to mix with bluebills or is it a good idea to seperate them. I have read both sides and just trying to see what others have experienced.
Last season was my first time messing with buffleheads, Gander mountain didnt have any bufflehead decoys so i purchased a dozen bluebills and had 6 on a gang rig and threw the other 6 out seperate. Kinda look like 6 were resting and the other 6 were swimming into the group. We shot a few buffleheads off this set up.
